Crazy Busy Fall....

Fall flew by in a whirl...

From October2nd:

"I have no idea what happened to September??? I remember Luke's Monkey birthday and a trip to Hot Springs, a couple football games and then it was October. It's supposed to SNOW tonight in the higher elevations and my kids have no coats yet, they've worn pants to school twice. We aren't ready for that!"

August:

Rally week came and went, school started for Wayne August 19th and for me and Luke the 26th and for Andy and Zach the 28th. See the post on first day profiles HERE

Our first football game was the same day as the Huskers, so we had to choose who to support. We went with dad. That was Labor Day Saturday. No last camping trip for us.

I wore my Spartan shirt with my Cowboys shorts during the day to make sure I hit all our teams.

Jake and I wore our Nebraska shoes with our Bronc gear to support our 'Skers.

We all wore our Bronc gear to support dad. Purple is still our favorite color.

The football atmosphere is just as good as the game. Finding friends in the crowd...

OUCH!!!

Luke's Monkey birthday was the next weekend. <Full post HERE>

Then there was Belle's homecoming.

The next weekend we went to Hot Springs to see the Feterls who drove out from Salem.

This weekend we are doing the Volksmarch up Crazy Horse and (still have yet to make it there) our second children's matinee movie series movie. Jake did alright with a continuous stream of popcorn, candy and pop going in his mouth the first movie, then after that he was a pain in the ass and we spent most of our time in the lobby or below the amphitheater seating in the hidden isle.

Spearfish's 125th Anniversary, Heritage Museum

Next weekend will be BHSU's homecoming and Spearfish Spartan homecoming, except the blizzard hit and everything was cancelled. :( This was the first time in years that we didn't get to do the festivities, but it helps that there weren't any festivities.

The blizzard made National News as it was a very early, very heavy snow that trapped cattle and snapped trees. The carnage was huge. Ranchers won't recover for years. You could still find dead cows in the ditch after Christmas as after October 3rd, we didn't go more than 3 days until May without it snowing again. It was a long harsh winter with no fall and a spring that started in May. Below are some highlights of the blizzard. A full and detailed post can be found HERE.

The National Weather Service called me to report snowfall totals. That was my first report in to the National Weather Service as a certified storm spotter. It was bittersweet.

The boys' fall extracurricular is Cub Scouts. Zach is a Tiger Cub and Andy a Bear Cub. We found it was a bit more demanding than we thought and we only made it to a fraction of the things we intended. We didn't sell very much popcorn and we are still waiting on Andy's Bear Cub patch. I think scouts is a great program, but independently following along the books might be a better way for us as it turns out, the majority of the meetings and outings are right during wrestling season.

Zach's 7th birthday!! Zach is still very much into dinosaurs and scary things. He specifically is obsessed with Jurassic Park for the past year. A boy of my own heart. He wanted a Jurassic Park birthday. Challenge accepted. Full post on it HERE. Highlights...
